Hey everyone!  I am so excited to finally be back and blogging with all of you!  For the first time I decided to try to link all of my items, and when I couldn’t find the exact same one I tried to link a similar one.  The best news is that several of these items are on sale!!!! If you were to come shopping with me at any given time, you’d quickly discover that I rarely will pay full price for an item, rather, I like to sit back and keep an eye on something I really love waiting for it to go on sale.  Part of what makes this plan successful is I have a select few stores that I truly love and keep an eye on and as a result have learned their sale patterns over time.  Having only a few rather than many make it manageable to truly learn the sale patterns, as well as keep a more coherent look to my style from outfit to outfit.  (If you’d like to know more about which stores I like to shop at and how I decide when to pay full price or wait for an item go on sale, leave a comment or email me and I’ll put together a post!)

Now, for some fun details about this outfit!  This whole summer I have been loving dresses and rompers for their simplicity.  They take the work out of getting dressed in the morning and I am looking forward to transitioning them into the fall with jean jackets and cute tights with booties.  I have made it a goal to have a couple cute, casual dresses like this that are fun and easy to throw on for a coffee date with a friend or just running errands.  I wore this one this past week for an impromptu coffee date with one of my best friends!

What are some of your favorite items that are your go-to when you need a fast and cute outfit for the day?  Do you have any fun outfits that you’re looking forward to transitioning to fall?

Until next time!

Leighton Michele

Hola from Honduras everyone!  I am so excited to announce to you that before I left for Honduras I was able to partner with The Lily James Collection as an ambassador for them this summer.  When I saw this dress on their website I knew that it was the dress I wanted to feature on here for you guys.  It was love at first sight.  I love the clean, brightness of the white, crinkle material, and the detailing down the front is just stunning!  Also, how could you not fall in love with this open back?  I am a sucker for unique details, so this back was right up my alley.  It will be perfect for the dressy summer party that you want something nice to wear but not be too hot in.  I actually ended up bringing it with me here to Honduras and wore it with a navy tank top underneath for church here!  It is so versatile and I am in love with it!  I can’t wait to share it with you how I’ve worn it here in Honduras in some posts next week on everything that has been happening here.  In the mean time know that I am loving it here and truly can’t wait to share it with all of you when I have some time to sit down and sort through all of the pictures.  In the mean time, go check out Lily James, here is a special code so you can receive 10% off your order!

Poolside Must-Haves

I am so excited to share with you that I am partnering with Adore Me, to bring to you my beach day (or when you’re landlocked, poolside) must-haves.  I have joked for several years now that I am a landlocked mermaid, so when Adore Me asked me to join in with their #beachdaymusts campaign I knew that it was right up my alley.

The first thing on my list is always a cute cover-up. Depending on the event will depend on the cover-up I will wear. One of my favorite casual looks to go with a pair of cut-offs and a long kimono.  I would wear this for a day at the lake or a barbecue.  Some of my other favorite coverups include a romper, lace dress coverup, pair of overalls and other various cute summer dresses.  I love having a variety of them for the various types of pool parties that are bound to come up during the summer months as well as ones that work for a relaxed swim at my neighborhood pool.

Another important item to remember is your phone loaded up with your current favorite jams.  For me, this can range from anything from one of my favorite groups like Anthem Lights, to Carrie Underwood or taking it back to the Backstreet Boys. Whatever your mood is, having the perfect playlist to listen to with friends or just by yourself while tanning will help you escape, even if only for a few hours, to vacation mode.

IMG_5333IMG_5350

Next up on my list is a cute hat.  These come in handy for when you’re not quite ready to go in yet, but have definitely met your sun quota for the day.  (Can we say avoiding sunburn?)IMG_5358

I like to bring along a fun drink too.  For me in the summer heat that will be an iced sweet tea any day.  On this particular day I had fun mixing my sweet tea with a little kool-aid to add some fun tropical flavors.  It is important though to make sure that you remember water outside of your fun drink.  It is so easy to dehydrate when hanging out at the pool, so bring that water and save yourself the trouble of feeling sick or worse later.

IMG_5371

Pictured above are all of my must haves.  You can see my coverup, phone with headsets, sweet tea, hat and water that I’ve already mentioned.  Now lets discuss the details.  While I haven’t had a chance to really get on my tan yet, over the next several weeks you’ll notice that my tan will be getting drastically darker and it will all be thanks to Maui Babe tanning lotion and after sun lotion pictured above.  Out of all of the tanning oils I have tried I have found Maui Babe to give me the best tan at the fastest speed.  However, as much as I love my Maui Babe tanning oil, do not use it without a liberal coat of sunscreen.  If you forget the sunscreen you will end up burnt to a crisp!  (I may know from personal experience one time….)  I also love their after sun lotion because, it is so soothing and any pink I may get from my time in the sun swiftly turns into a nice tan thanks to this magic in a bottle.  Not to mention the fact that it leaves your skin feeling so silky soft afterwards and smells so good!  I also like to throw in some deodorant for those days where you know you’ll be spending time outside the water after having been wet.  I also like to keep a small bag of necessities tucked into my beach bag.

IMG_5385

Tucked into this small bag I like to keep some hair supplies to throw my hair up in a messy bun if I need to as well as some makeup for touch-ups when I’m done swimming and some chapstick to keep my lips moisturized since the sun has such a drying effect on them.

Finally, the most important thing you can bring to the beach or pool with you this season can’t be found in your pool bag.  The most important thing you can bring is confidence in who you are.  As girls it is so easy to let insecurities creep in, especially during swim season.  Your body isn’t quite where you want it to be, you aren’t tan enough, you don’t look good enough without makeup, the list goes on and on with the ways we fall short in our eyes.  This swim season I want to encourage you to remember that your worth does not come from a perfect body or looks, rather, it comes from the fact that you are a child of God.  You can live your life with confidence knowing that because you are His you are good enough and nothing can take that away from you.

Blessings,

Leighton Michele

Bell Sleeves and Cutoffs

Shirt: Versona  Cut-Off Shorts: Apricot Lane  Necklace: Versona  Bracelet: Versona  Earrings: Versona  Shoes: Dolce Vita

I love this outfit!  It is the perfect combination of a classic combination with this years trends.  For as long as I can remember I have loved a white tshirt with a pair of jean shorts, so when I put this combo together I was so excited to have the same effect with a more trendy look!  I fell in love with this bell sleeve shirt from Versona the minute I laid eyes on it.  It just has a charm about it and when paired with these cute denim cutoffs, you get the perfect look!  I decided to add my beaded feather necklace to it to keep with the light weight, feel of the shirt and was so happy with the combo, all that was missing was one of my favorite pairs of heels!  I found these last year at Dillard’s, but I have seen some very similar styles there again this year!  Gianni Bini has an especially cute pair I saw in store!

I actually ended up wearing this outfit last Saturday with my converse to go mini golfing and go-karting with a group of my friends and my sister.  I had never been mini golfing before, and well, lets just say that I should definitely stick to blogging!  My hand eye coordination is basically nonexistent when combined with a ball no matter what the sport is!  I do have fun though, which I guess is the important part, and thankfully my friends are all really good sports and still play with me even if I stink!  When it came to the go-karting though it was a wonderfully different story!  I had so much fun flying around the race track and managed to come in first place two out of three rounds!  Haha, we may have had some good friendly competition going on.

What are some of your favorite change ups of a tried and true fashion formula?  Have you taken the plunge and bought a bell sleeve shirt?

Leighton Michele

Necklace: Mirina   (the Andy) c/o  Shirt: Target  Jeans: Blank NYC from Verosna

Bracelet: Dillard’s  Earrings: Icings  Shoes: Steve Madden

I am so excited to introduce you to this new necklace!  Over a month ago I was approached by Mirina Collections asking if I would review one of their necklaces here on En Pointe Chic.  After seeing their necklaces on their website I was so excited to email back a very happy yes to the collaboration!  They let me choose any necklace I wanted and I immediately fell in love with the Andy.  I loved how it has a lovely statement look, yet can be dressed both up or down.  I have already worn this necklace several times and just love how it goes with so many different outfits!  I decided to share it with all of you in one of my fail proof combos, black and white.  I mean, is there seriously anything more classic than a black and white outfit?  I like how it pops against the black shirt while I get to wear my new favorite white jeans.  They are just so comfy!

Now I have some exciting news for all of you!  Mirina Collections has been so kind and given me a code so that all of you can go pick out your favorite necklace with 20% off!!!  When you choose your necklace just enter the code mirinagirls at check out!  If you are wanting to order one of these gorgeous necklaces for a special occasion, order sooner rather than later.  Each necklace is handmade at the time of the order and can take 4-6 weeks before they are shipped, they are so well worth the wait though.

Which Mirina necklace is your favorite?

Leighton Michele

*I was given this necklace in exchange for my honest review of this necklace.  All thoughts are my own.

Shirt: Versona  Jeans: Blank NYC Earrings: Versona

Bracelet: Versona  Purse: Versona  Shoes: Gianni Bini

Okay, I have a confession to make, this whole outfit, minus the shoes, is from Versona.   I may have a slight problem, but they are such a wonderful place to shop!  I am in love with these jeans!!!  They are a new brand and only a handful of Versona’s have been chosen to carry them, and I was so excited to find out the Versona near my house was among the ones chosen.  They are seriously so comfy, it is almost like wearing pajamas, yet they look darling and pulled together.  While they are a little more so on the pricy end, because they are a wardrobe staple (especially with my job) I was willing to spend a little more for a pair of pants that were so versatile and good quality that would last a long time.

One of the trends I am loving so much for this coming summer season is the split back tops!  The slit in the back adds such a fun element to an otherwise ordinary shirt.  On colder days it looks darling with a patterned tank underneath to peak through.  Would you ever consider wearing a top with a slit in the back?  What are some of your favorite staple items in your wardrobe you’re willing to spend a little more for?

Bridal Shower Fun

I have definitely reached the wedding season in life.  I have spent the past two Saturday’s at good friends bridal showers, which has been so much fun.  The catch is, I haven’t felt like wearing the traditional dress these past two Saturdays.  My solution? A jumpsuit for the first bridal shower and this romper for the past one.  They were perfect!  They were so comfy to wear, yet dressy enough for the special occasions we were celebrating.  The bridal shower this past weekend was for my sweet friend Alex, from Adventures of a Vintage Charmer.  It was such a sweet bridal shower made all the more fun and special due to the fact that some of us girls that used to work together and formed close friendships were reunited.  To read more about the shower you can hop on over to Alex’s blog to read all about it, here!  She also has some of the cutest house decorating ideas, I highly recommend spending your next hour or two just enjoying checking out her blog.

Bachelorette Fun

Ricki’s bachelorette party

A few weeks ago I did a post on the bridal shower I threw for my friend, Ricki.  In that post I promised to share about the unique bachelorette party we had too. Ricki had wanted something smaller and more intimate, so several of us girls got together on a Friday night a few weeks before the wedding to celebrate our sweet friend. We all met at Victoria’s Secret and everyone brought a gift card for VS.  To have some fun, everyone got to pick out something the bride had to try on and the bride chose some items too. Then she was able to choose what she actually wanted and get it with the gift cards we had all brought. It was a fun way to tease her with some crazier items while she actually received the ones she would really want. Afterwards we went to a nearby restaurant where we all ordered dinner and had fun just being together. Then those that were able to stay the night headed back to Ricki’s apartment where we finished the night in true girl fashion. We made snores, ate junk food and watched chick flicks late into the night while having fun teasing each other and just doing what best friends do.

The smores were super easy to make and I’ll share the recipe with you below.

Items you’ll need:

Graham Crackers

Large Marshmallows

Chocolate Hershey’s Bars

Preheat your oven to 450°

While your oven is heating, place graham crackers on the bottom of your baking sheet.  Now place a marshmallow on top of each graham cracker. Once the oven is fully heated, place the pan in the oven for five minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown. After you take the pan out, put a piece of chocolate on top of each marshmallow. I like to eat my smores open faced, but if you prefer to eat them as a sandwich you would add another graham cracker on top at this point.

My friends and I loved this recipe and we have used it many times since, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!  Have you ever made smores in the oven before?  Have you ever had a fun girls night styled bachelorette party before?

Leighton Michele

Seas of Crimson

Ever since I have been little I have loved Christmas.  I loved the magic of it and the fact that it was the moment the greatest miracle was put into motion.  The miracle that would find its completion years later on Easter morning.   There is a song by Wes Hampton that’s chorus goes, “Oh what if Sunday had not come?  What if the sun had never dawned?  What if eternity, was eternally gone?  What if the One who came to save, had never risen from the grave?  What if Sunday had not come?”  I love this song because it points out one very important thing, if Jesus had died on the cross and everything had ended there, everything we as Christians believe is in vain.  Without Easter Sunday, Jesus is just another man in history who died a cruel and violent death at the hands of the Roman government.  However, Jesus was not just another man and Easter Sunday did come.  As the sun rose that morning, hope of eternity rose with it as Jesus came back from the dead, victorious over the grave and providing a way for us to spend eternity in heaven.  As the lyrics from Sea of Crimson say above, Where there was sin your love rushed in, For all enslaved the ransom paid.  Because of Easter morning, our ransom was paid and we can now be free to spend eternity in Heaven if we choose to accept the gift God has given us.

Happy Easter!

If you’ve been following me for long on Instagram, then you know that I am obsessed with Versona’s spring collection!  I am loving all of the cute, on-trend pieces that they have for such affordable prices!  I wore this shirt a little over a week ago on a day trip to OKC with one of my best friends and it was the perfect shirt for the day! It was comfortable enough for traveling while being nice enough for a fun girls day out.  Also, I am so excited that the flowers have started to bloom!  Spring is one of my favorite seasons, the days are getting longer and warmer, and the air is full of promise of all the fun events that are about to happen with warmer days!  I love to be outside, so weather like I have been experiencing lately has been perfect!  Not to mention the added bonus that this is my second day this month to be able to wear shorts!!!

What has the weather been like where you live?  I am loving the off the shoulder trend this spring, have you tried it out yet?
