New Years Resolutions

Striped Shirt: Same Plaid Shirt: Similar Boots: Same

I can’t believe that it is already 2017!   Time has a way of escaping these days I feel like, surely it hasn’t been over a year since I started En Pointe Chic and several months since my last post?  During the past few months I have started a new job and been working hard at learning it, been trying to love every moment and spend as much time as possible with the people in my life.  My new job has a new schedule that it took me awhile to figure out how to arrange my schedule, but I finally have a game plan for blogging and there will be new posts up every Monday and Friday and the occasional surprise one on Wednesdays!

Now, for my New Years Resolutions.  I don’t like to do the traditional ones, instead I like to choose a trait that I want to work on for the year and try to spend the year focusing on that.  This year the trait I want to work on cultivating further in myself is becoming a more kind and gentle person.  This is something I have worked on for several years, but I really want to focus on this year making sure that my actions and words are kind and gentle, even when a situation has me worked up.

The above outfit is a fun outfit that I enjoyed wearing to a New Years Eve party with some friends from church.  It is a fun and comfy outfit that was perfect for a casual evening party with friends.  Tying the plaid shirt around my waist was the perfect way to mix up this striped shirt and play with prints.  As a rule of thumb, I like to treat stripes like a solid when it comes to mixing prints.

What are some of your New Years resolutions?  Does anyone else like to choose a special trait to work on for the year?  What are some of your tricks for mixing prints?
